Summer Jackets

A summer jacket has one job: keep you comfortable when the evening cools down or the office AC is turned way up. These light summer jackets for men and women come in satin, cotton and thin leather.

Fabrics that work in the heat

Satin is light and smooth and looks a little dressed up. Cotton breathes and is the most casual. Thin lambskin is the only leather we'd suggest for summer, and mostly for evenings. Save heavier leather and shearling for later in the year.

How to wear one

Throw a satin bomber over a tee and shorts, or a cotton jacket over a summer dress. Keep it open and push the sleeves up. You'll find more in our men's lightweight jackets and women's lightweight jackets, and our intro to satin varsity jackets explains the satin look. For cooler weeks, our spring jackets bridge the gap.

FAQs

What jacket should I wear in summer?
Something thin and breathable, like a satin bomber or a cotton jacket. Thin lambskin works on cooler nights.
Is it too hot for a leather jacket in summer?
During the day, usually yes. On cool evenings, near the water or in air conditioning, a thin lambskin jacket is fine.
What is a satin jacket?
A lightweight jacket with a smooth, shiny shell, usually cut as a bomber or a varsity. It's warm enough for evenings but light enough to carry all day.
